Your events, training and resources

Slowing down for Christmas season? Not quite yet. You still have plenty of chances to make the most of your membership before the holiday and new year reset. And the first week of December is one of the busiest all year!

It’s Change Agent Week, Cyber Security Week and Member Week. You really will be ready for a festive holiday.

Your feedback has shaped next year’s events calendar. In trying to balance how we can all get the best and most from our community, you have three in-person national conferences in 2024.

Planning for all of them is underway. And the whole events calendar for next year will be published soon.

Your first diary date is: Wednesday 28 February: Service Design and Transformation 2024 (in Sheffield)

Some numbers:

  • 3 in-person national conferences in 2024
  • 42 hours of meetings and training the w/b Monday 4 December. It’s not possible to join them all :p
  • 147 of us (so far) are taking part in the final Change Agent ( https://socitm.net/calendar/change-agent/ ) programme of the year. We’ve got 1 week to go from a maximum snooker break to a dart’s 180!

Do pass on the info for Change Agents. It’s free for local government attendees and you don’t need to be a Socitm member.

Your alumni day is coming to you this year. Register to join everyone online on Thursday 7 December. We’ll be celebrating our shared experiences and exploring the latest developments in diversity, equality, and inclusion.

This week’s highlight from your LinkedIn group:

Iftaz Hussain and Tass Smith met back in 2016 on a Socitm leadership programme and the LocalGov Application Managers’ Network (LGAMN) was borne out of their conversations.

If your council isn’t a member of the LGAMN yet, then your Apps/DevOps Managers are missing out on some great conversations, collaboration and (moral) support.

Head over to their blog for more information, a list of current member councils and the membership form.

I hope you can have a lovely weekend,

Alex.
