Your events, training and resources
This is the final and probably the shortest (hurrah) newsletter of the year.
If you’re reading this on Friday then the final membership events of 2023 are underway. And our attention is almost (but not quite) completely on January.
Here’s a few of our favourite bits (in no particular order) from the year, that might be yours too:
- Ophelia Payne at President’s Conference in Brighton. Get the 2024 dates in your calendar for people, talking, tech and dancing
- The 19 digital and technology trends of 2023. The updated research report is being finalised right now. Get ready for it in the new year.
- The AI usage policy template (used by so many of you) that was a brilliant team project with colleagues in New Zealand and the United States.
- Our partnership with Impera Analytics. We’ve been working with Pye and his team for months and they’re fantastic. If you were with us in Cardiff earlier this year (the Principality Stadium was an awesome venue) or in Blackpool last week you will remember Pye’s presentations. Look out for big developments in 2024.
- Emeritus President Sam Smith joined our Society to lead the Institute. Hurrah!
- Microsoft and Socitm ended the year with a week-long Change Agent course. The sessions around data and Copilot generated lots of mind blown emojis in the Teams chat.
- You asked for a podcast and we started one. Four episodes so far, with the next due in January. Lots of us listen to podcasts but none of us had produced one. Thank you for the challenge and opportunity.
Your Alumni Day recording and report are available. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us for some or all of the activities and guests. There are many demands on your time so spending some of it with us and rest of your Socitm membership community is genuinely appreciated (and enjoyed).
As you are short on time, here are some links to the key people and content:

The Public Sector 2024 Challenge
Come along with us on Friday 6 September for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Let us come together as a sector, push ourselves, support and motivate each other to reach these three peaks together and raise as much money for Cancer Research UK as possible.
