The Eastern region is a vibrant, engaging and growing group with representatives from all tiers of local government across a wide geographic area, covering an area of just under 6,000 square miles, and including a number of key urban Tech growth areas, as well as unique rural communities and villages.
All events are advertised on Socitm Eventbrite and you can reserve your place by registering via Eventbrite. The events are focussed on key themes and issues which members would like to learn about or address. Members share ideas, lessons learnt and successes and also collaborate, looking to co-develop themes and projects.
The local committee consult members for ideas and agree on a theme for each session.
All Socitm members and guests from all public sector organisations across the region are welcome, with places allocated on a first come, first served basis. Members are encouraged to invite colleagues from a broad cross section of departments within their organisation.
Private sector organisations can attend by purchasing our Local partnership packages.

Socitm’s North East region only has twelve councils in the region – all single tier – but despite this, we regularly get around 30 senior leaders in the public and private sector at our meetings. We try to identify a topic and identify trends in technology, market and policy…hopefully these align and our members plans align with these too. Identifying outliers – for whatever reason – leads to even more interesting discussion.

The West Midlands region has a range of membership comprising of large city, county and metropolitan borough councils, smaller district authorities and third sector members.
We regularly attract 30-40 members to our events and have strong business sponsorship. We aim to make our agenda appropriate and relevant to the wishes of our members and each meeting will usually focus around one key topic. We aim to have a mix of private sector sponsor presentations together with real life case studies from authorities who are leading the way in relevant technical matters. We hope to introduce more opportunities for discussion and debate at our future meetings and actively encourage new members to join.
East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire
The Yorkshire & Humber region hosts three themed events a year, based on topical issues. For example, recent events have focussed on social care and health integration, GDPR and data management & analysis. We have a mix of public sector and private sector speakers in addition to our valued sponsors. The events now close with an open Q&A session which usually generates an informative and lively discussion. Most of the meetings are held in Leeds, although we occasionally hold them in other convenient centres such as York.
The region also hosts the occasional ‘special’ event. A very well attended event was held jointly with CIPFA and through the kind sponsorship of SBL the region organised an event on Cyber Security alongside the national Cyber Security Professionals Conference in York.
Importantly, the events are run by Socitm members for Socitm members. If there’s a theme that you want to see, or a special topic that you are interested in, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.
Finally, we welcome sponsorship from companies working in the sector. Sponsorship gives you a platform to address senior IT professionals from across the region, and without such support we would not be able to put on such diverse and interesting events. Our local partnership programme packages will accommodate you if you are looking to get involved with our meetings.
