The Cyber Technical Advisory Group (CTAG)

Organiser: Socitm

What: The Cyber Technical Advisory Group (CTAG) has UK wide Government and WARP representation.

The CTAG reports into the Socitm Local CIO Council (LCIOC), supporting the LCIOC standing theme relating to Cyber Resilience, Information Assurance and Security and Information Governance and ethics.

CTAG works closely with the NCSC, LGA, Cabinet Office, MHCLG and through the UK wide representation CTAG is also able to engage with the Devolved Administrations who are full CTAG members.

The current CTAG programme is partially funded through a grant from the LGA.

What: iNetwork is a membership organisation based in Greater Manchester. With over 120 members across the North West and Yorkshire and Humberside they have a strong collective voice empowered to confront the most pressing challenges in the local public sector.

At iNetwork, they are committed to supporting the public sector to drive innovation and change to enhance service delivery for citizens.

They provide secure and collaborative spaces for public sector professionals to engage in candid conversations, share ideas, and collectively tackle organisational challenges.

Local CIO Council

What: An autonomous group that acts in a policy advisory capacity to the Socitm Board.

Representatives on the Council cover all geographic areas of the country, along with differing sizes of Local Authority, and other public and third sector bodies such as Education, Police, Health, etc.

Membership is typically reserved for senior members of staff, and the purpose of the group is to discuss local public services digital delivery and reform.

When? Every 3 months, 15:00 to 17:00

Microsoft Cyber Security Sub Group Meeting

What: The Microsoft Cyber Security Sub Group is designed for UK Local Government but open to anyone in Local Government worldwide.

A subgroup of the Microsoft UK Innovation and Collaboration Forum, this community-led group is all about cyber security; sharing best practices, guidance, and latest news about key topics and threats impacting Local Authorities in the UK. Working together to help all Local Authorities maximize the value from, and secure their, Microsoft licensing and services.

Warning, Advice and Reporting Points (WARPs)

Organiser: Socitm

What: A WARP brings together Information Security, Assurance and Governance practitioners on a regional, sub-regional or partnership basis.

The groups meet to share up-to-date advice on information security threats, incidents and solutions. All meetings are conducted on a Chatham House Rule basis, using a traffic light protocol when discussing threats and incidents. The groups are built and operate on trust.

When? Varies. Some WARPs meet jointly on occasion with their Socitm region, for instance in the East of England.
