Cut price tech for public sector

More than two million of the latest smart devices are available at a heavily discounted rate for the public sector, under a procurement negotiated by London Grid for Learning (LGfL).

Originally devised to give education the chance to buy heavily reduced equipment, LGfL has opened the procurement to all providers of local public services.

One of the key themes running through our recent President’s Week conference was the speed at which public services have transitioned to digitally supported ways of working, in response to Covid-19. Local authorities and their partner organisations have been able to move staff and services online at astonishing speed – within days and sometimes hours.

The LGfL programme can help to embed changes, such as more extensive virtual working. It can also be used to enable access for those who would otherwise be digitally excluded.

Socitm President Sam Smith said:

Socitm is delighted that LGfL has extended their #BridgeTheDivide programme to our members and their organisations. Despite the outstanding work within our sector this year, financial pressures are still looming and putting valuable gains made at risk. We encourage our members to check out this scheme and to take advantage of the available savings.

As the procurement has been undertaken using Crown Commercial Services Frameworks there is no requirement to tender.

Orders placed now will arrive within eight weeks.
