From Compliance to Confidence

‘From Compliance to Confidence’, Socitm’s first national event of 2021, will shine a spotlight on accessibility in the public sector.

In partnership with Microsoft, the online sessions on 9 and 10 February, will feature experts in their field who will lead discussions, debate and provide practical tips and support to help organisations deal confidently when it comes to accessibility.

On both days, delegates will have chance to learn British Sign Language through bitesize sessions delivered by Love Language.

Director of IT at Sense and chair for the event, Tony Colson, said:

“Accessibility, not only of public services but of technology products has never been more important. It’s great to see Socitm stepping into this debate and taking it to heart. Accessibility. From Compliance to Confidence, is about us looking not at what we must do, but at what we should do and inspiring all of us to do more in stepping up, recognising and responding to the challenges faced by the communities we serve and support”.

The theme for Day 1 is People, with contributions including the Scottish and Welsh Governments, along with Hinkley and Bosworth Borough Council, who will showcase their work in putting the user at the centre of decision making.

Day 2 will highlight the technical solutions available which support users to access information, including software which make PDFs easily accessible.
