What is the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism? And why has the Socitm Local CIO Council (LCIOC) agreed to sign up to it? Best summarised by its statement that: “We must shape technologies in accordance with human values and needs, instead of allowing technologies to shape humans,” the manifesto was among the talking points at December’s LCIOC meeting. Also on the agenda was whether local authorities should refuse to work with suppliers that charge them for accessing their own data and why The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) wants every local authority to establish a dedicated email address for cybersecurity.
