Providing alternative text for images is one of the most universal and impactful things we can do for web accessibility.

We tend to think that writing alternative text has clear rules.  But what defines a decorative image?  What characteristics should you describe when it’s a person?  Even the BBC and GOV.UK don’t agree in their guidance on best practices.

This webinar is for everyone. It starts with the fundamentals and then dives into the nuance. Jessica admits to not having all the answers, but thinking and talking about it will help us all write better alt text.

Mentioned in the webinar is the Silktide Field Guide for mobile screen readers and their YouTube channel (featuring plenty of videos with a redheaded woman and a black cat).
