Our meetings can be face-to-face (with refreshments provided) or virtual (bring your own refreshments) and will be focused on Socitm’s policy themes. Within these themed meetings your regional committee is free to create an agenda that works best for you and your regional colleagues. If there’s something you would like to discuss or investigate with like-minded peers just let us know on hello@socitm.net and we will co-ordinate that with and for you.

  1. 09:30 Welcome and Networking

    A warm welcome will greet you at this Socitm event. You’re then free to start networking as well as helping yourself to refreshments – including breakfast pastries.

  2. 10:00 Opening Remarks

    Craig Wilkins, South West Chair, Somerset Council

    Craig will make us all welcome, run through the practical housekeeping, set the scene, share his thoughts and introduce our first keynote speaker.

  3. 10:10 Lego Serious Play - Investing in Infrastructure

    An immersive exercise where teams work to manage the cyber security of a fictional organisation (based on Lego bricks!), competing against others in the process.

    You’ll face scenarios based on real life cyber threats, which will develop and evolve as the exercise goes on. Using your leadership, communication and collaborative expertise, you’ll collectively decide how to protect your reputation, assets and profit.

    This session teaches you how to effectively prioritise different technical, procedural and physical controls that your organisation can employ to enhance your cyber security. You’ll also improve your ability to communicate about cyber security to internal and external stakeholders.

  4. 12:10 Networking break

    It’s time to gather our thoughts from the morning sessions over refreshments and snacks. This is an opportunity to connect with fellow colleagues both from the public and private sector.

  5. 12:20 Being more diverse and inclusive in the workplace to improve outcomes for communities we serve

    Hear from our Empowering women Southwest cohort 2024 as they deliver their presentation’s back to you their peers, and senior members of staff on how being more diverse and inclusive in the workplace will improve outcomes for communities, we all serve.

  6. 12:40 Lunch

    We know how important these sections of a conference are. It’s time to make new connections, say hello to colleagues across the sector you’ve not seen for some time and reflect on the morning’s programme over lunch. Keep the conversation going and enjoy further food for thought.
