Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) has prompted councils to take a closer look at how they operate, exposing challenges around fragmented technology estates, disconnected data, duplicated systems and the organisational barriers that make collaboration difficult.

But while the timetable for structural change may have shifted, the need to address these challenges hasn’t gone away.

From improving data accessibility and governance to enabling secure, seamless communication between teams and organisations, we’ll consider the practical steps councils can take now, regardless of what happens next with structural reform.

Ultimately, residents don’t experience local government through organisational structures. They experience services. And delivering better, more joined-up public services starts with making it easier for the people, systems and organisations behind them to work together.
