Overview

Theme: Leadership: ‘Emotional Intelligence’ a better indicator for career success

You may know people who are intellectually gifted, know their specialist subject inside out yet struggle with their working relationships and make poor team players.

The ability to express and control emotions is essential for our health and wellbeing. Equally important is the ability to notice, understand, interpret, and respond to the emotions of others. Think of situations where you could not understand if a friend was feeling sad or when a co-worker was angry. Psychologists refer to this ability as emotional intelligence, and some experts suggest that it can be more important than IQ in your overall success in life

The good news is that our emotional intelligence levels are not fixed and can be improved at any time in our lives. In this seminar Aidan will share some ideas to help us understand what the components of emotional intelligence are and what we can do enhance it to make us healthier and happier.
