Overview

Theme: Healthy and Well Communities during COVID – a workshop 

Hosted by: SAP

 

This interactive workshop will explore the issues for Local Government in developing and sustaining healthy and well communities at this difficult time.  Led by Sam Smith, President of Socitm and Nick Wood, Senior Wellbeing Advisor at Gloucestershire County Council we will explore the challenges and some of the current solutions.  We will review some international comparators looking at how local track and trace has evolved in the US and how Copenhagen are looking to use data to better understand communities.  What can we learn and use to our advantage?

Nick is an expert in workplace mental health and a member of the Workplace Executive of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In her joint roles as IT Strategic Lead for Cambridgeshire County & Peterborough City Councils and Head of IT & Digital for the 3C ICT Service, Sam is able to draw on her extensive experience across multiple local authorities.  In a wide range of roles she has delivered IT projects and programmes alongside a high standard of operational support for enterprise level infrastructure and multiple line of business IT services.

Sam is passionate about getting the best out of IT for maximum business benefit and lead the 3C ICT shared service and develop the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Strategy to do just that with a pragmatic approach to defining IT Strategy to deliver increased business results.

Sam has extensive experience of all aspects of people, project and financial management and a proven record of inspiring the teams that work for her by providing strong leadership and support with clear direction. With excellent operational and technical leadership skills she forms and manages relationships at all levels of the business and IT from senior management and customers to technical engineering staff.

As President of Socitm Sam is keen to share experiences and collaborate across the public sector and lead the ‘Healthy & Well Communities’ Policy theme to enable the “left shift” of intervention in people’s health and wellbeing from the expensive acute end of the system to an earlier point at the community and locality end and with citizens themselves.

Outside of work she is a keen walker and explorer of country houses & stately homes who enjoys a very slow Parkrun most Saturdays as well the less well known hobby of Champing.

SAP Qualtrics are deploying solutions globally (including the UK, United States and Australia) to help tackle the COVID-19 global pandemic. Sean works within the Public Sector team at Qualtrics, specialising in working with NHS and local government organisations to help improve outbreak controls, including testing, tracing, stakeholder engagement and increasing compliance rates with self-isolation.
