A.. B… CIO: A personal view of IT leadership
September 1, 2013
Like the agricultural and the industrial revolutions which came before, the ‘digital age’ is fundamentally changing the way we all live and work. It is the role of the CIO to translate that potential of new technology into business benefit. That benefit might be efficiency, profit, revenue growth, supporting mergers and acquisitions, innovation for competitive advantage, staff productivity, increased business agility, customer service or a myriad of other things.
The best CIOs know the business priorities of their organisation and actively help to shape them. They will typically be at the heart of delivery by successfully managing transformational change programmes enabled by IT. Simply applying new technology to traditional ways of working is simply not good enough anymore.
