Socitm Awards 2017

Socitm's Awards Ceremony will form the centrepiece of our Annual Conference dinner in Leicester, on the evening of 9th October 2017.

We're very excited to be opening the nominations for our eight award categories. Those working in local government are now invited to nominate themselves or others.

Member of the Year

We’re looking for Socitm members who have had a significant impact on the delivery of local services. The judges will consider the following criteria:

  • What real differences have been made to how people can access public services?
  • What changes have been made and challenges overcome that have been directly influenced by the nominee?
  • What contribution has the nominee made in support of wider Socitm membership agenda policies, such as driving digital transformation and ‘simplifying, standardising and sharing’?

Young Leader of the Year

We’re after nominations from or on behalf of people aged 30 and under who are making a difference to the delivery of services at their local authority. The judges will be asking:

  • How have they used their experiences as a younger person to affect change in how services are delivered?
  • What challenges has the nominee overcome, and what new directions have they influenced?
  • How has the nominee inspired and led their peers and colleagues?

Innovative Collaboration Award

We have split this category up to cover the three main forms of local authority. So, there will be separate awards for county councils, district councils and unitary authorities.

Do you know of a council that can demonstrate outstanding use of collaboration with other public bodies to produce positive outcomes for citizens? This could take the form of a shared service; a co-produced product or resource; or any other instance of collaborative working. The judges will be guided by the following criteria:

  • Does the collaboration demonstrate repeatable innovation that could be useful to Socitm colleagues?
  • What benefits does the collaboration create in terms of time, cost and resource savings?
  • What new capabilities has the collaboration created that weren’t possible before?

Citizen Engagement Award

We've split this category up to cover the three main forms of local authority. So, there will be separate awards for county councils, district councils and unitary authorities.

Do you know a local authority whose programmes have delivered outstanding levels of citizen engagement, and that can demonstrate how these initiatives have created value for stakeholders in their communities? If so, please get nominating. The judges will be looking for:

  • What extra value has been created for citizens, and how are the benefits being realised?
  • Can Socitm members take lessons from these programmes and replicate them?
  • What are the main challenges that have been overcome in moving to a new way of interacting with citizens?
